Dear Parents and Guardians:
I hope this letter finds you and your families well.
On Thursday evening, the Cuyahoga County Board of Health (CCBH) issued a recommendation that all area schools start the school year in online remote learning “due to the elevated risk posed to students, staff and family members”.
The complete announcement from the CCBH can be viewed here.
The Rocky River City School District administration and staff will be reviewing further recommendations from the CCBH and will discuss them at a Special Board of Education Meeting on Wednesday, August 5, at 5:00pm as we work to comply with CCBH guidance to open the school year with online remote learning. Any adjustments to previously communicated plans will be shared next week.
In addition, the CCBH recommended that area schools “discontinue extracurriculars such as sports, band, theater, choir and other activities during the remote learning period.” As a result of the CCBH recommendation, effective August 1, all school events, activities and athletics are postponed until further guidance is received from the CCBH.
During these challenging and ever-changing times, we appreciate your continued patience and flexibility.
Thank you for your continued support of the Rocky River City School District.
Sincerely,
Dr. Michael G. Shoaf
Superintendent
