Geographic Bee
In our final round of the RRMS Geography Bee Grant Preto finished third, Jackson Paige second and the 2019 RRMS Geo Bee school champion is Evan Lei. Congratulations to all and good luck to Evan in the state qualifying test! In addition, the top 3 RRMS Geography Bee contestants from each grade level are as follows:
Grade 6= Rosie Murray, Ryan Nazette, and Jackson Paige
Grade 7= Andrei Onciu, Grant Preto, and Max Movius
Grade 8= Evan Lei, Jackson Sheller, and Seth Eaton
Special thanks to Mrs. Damer for helping Mr. Smith by serving as judge, timer and score keeper and to the students and staff members for cheering on the contestants.  
 
Patriot's Pen Award Winners
In October, the 8th grade American History classes participated in a national essay contest sponsored by the VFW titled "The Patriot's Pen."  Seventeen student essays were selected for district competition. 
Yearbook Cover Design Contest
It's that time of the year again for the Yearbook Cover Design Contest!  Entries are due in a large envelope with your name on it to Mrs. Annechino in room B108 by Thursday, January 24th, 2019.  There will be a school-wide vote the following week to choose the winner of the contest. Please use only one side of an 8 ½ by 11 piece of paper and leave at least a ½ inch border around all four sides.  Do not include any copyrighted images. You may use any medium you would like (crayons, colored pencils, water colors), but markers may smear or bleed and therefore are not recommended. Please see Mrs. Annechino if you have any questions.  
Yearbook Sale
Our second yearbook sale will be January 2nd to the 31st. Order forms and payment are due to the main office by Thursday, January 31st. You can also order them online by Monday, March 11th. See the link here and enter the code rrms1631 to order yearbooks online. Please contact Mrs. Annechino with questions.  
 
Summer School Fitness 2019 (Current 8th Grade Only)
Registration for summer school fitness begins on March 12th at the Board of Education.  Information and forms can be found here.

Spelling Bee
The overall winner  of the 7th and 8th grade Spelling Bee is 7th grader Cate Huxtable, runner up is 8th grader Martha Kolpien. Sarah Kozlowski came in second place for 8th grade and Reagan Spearry in second place for 7th grade. Cate will be our district representative in the regional Bee in February. Sixth grade winner is Maria Tracy with runner up Trang Ngo.  Thank you to all of the teachers for administering and scoring the initial spelling tests. Thank you to Angela Lilley for being our pronouncer, to Meredith Muccio and Andrea Reynolds for being judges and to Jeff Schultz for his time and the use of his color printer for the certificates. The students did a great job and spent a lot of time studying the words! Please congratulate them when you see them.
