Kindness Poster Contest
We need your help designing posters to spread the message that "Kindness Matters" at RRMS. Please click here for full guidelines.  Entires are due in a large envelope with student name on it to Mrs. Morriss in the Counseling Office by Friday, March 22nd.  
 
Summer School Fitness 2019 (Current 8th Grade Only)
Registration for summer school fitness begins on March 12th at the Board of Education.  Information and forms can be found here.

GeoBee
Congratulations to 8th grader and school GeoBee champion, Evan Lei, who has qualified for the state round of the National Geographic Geography Bee. Evan will take his geographic talents south of Columbus, specifically Winchester Trail Elementary School, which is slightly beyond Columbus, where he will compete against other Ohio middle school students on Friday March 29th. 
Spelling Bee
Eighth grader Martha Kolpien represented Rocky River Middle School in the Cuyahoga County Regional Spelling Bee held February 23rd at the Cuyahoga Community College Metropolitan Campus. Martha persevered through nine rounds of spelling words making it into the ranks of the top ten spellers. Her words included foist, catkin, and gregarious. Congratulations to Martha for a job well done! 
Stop The Hate Essay Contest
The Maltz Museum of Jewish Heritage announced the top 25 finalists for the 11th annual Stop the Hate Youth Speak Out essay writing contest. RRMS 8th grade students Gigi Konrad and Gianna Miller are finalists in the contest. The annual contest gives student a platform to use their voices to speak out against hate and stand up for inclusion. The prestigious contest offers students the chance to win individual scholarship money. The winners will be named live at the award ceremony on March 14th at the Cleveland Museum of Art. Congratulations and best of luck to Gigi and Gianna!

Northwestern University's Midwest Academic Talent Search
High achieving students in grades 7 and 8 are eligible to take the SAT or ACT with area high school students. This opportunity is offered through Northwestern University’s Center for Talent Development. Students who achieved a level of Advanced on the Ohio State Tests or who have received a 90% or higher on Terra Nova tests are eligible. In order to have Rocky River Middle School receive a copy of your child’s SAT or ACT scores, the following RRMS I.D. should be entered on the registration form: 8501690.
