Educational Services
The office of Educational Services is responsible for working collaboratively with administrators related to curriculum, student achievement, teacher training, and data analysis. It accomplishes this by performing the following functions:
  • It assists with the development and implementation of K-12 curriculum and materials to enhance student achievement
  • Leads professional development sessions that help teachers improve instructional strategies.
  • Facilitates course of study writing, assessment writing, and student achievement data protocols.
  • Provides supports to teachers and staff with the usage of state and local assessment data, state standards, model curriculum and value added.
  • Oversees Resident Educator Program. Develops and implements training materials for learning activities as
  • related to the Resident Educator Program.
  • Supports course development, master scheduling, course registration, and digital resource integrations.
  • Serves as the district testing coordinator for SAT and ACT state of Ohio testing.
  • Stays abreast of current state policies, research, and best practices related to teaching and learning.
 
Dr. Drost serves as a Regional Data Lead on the executive committee for the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce as well as the EMIS Advisory Council. He is also on the classroom assessment committee for NCME and serves as a certified LETRS trainer.

Technology
The office of Technology is responsible for directing the development, delivery and advancement of strategies to enhance staff/student use of district technology resources that support the curriculum. Helps implement a shared vision of learning that supports continuous measurable improvements in student achievement. It accomplishes this by performing the following functions:
  • Facilitates district compliance with pertinent local, state, and federal laws, e.g. SB 29, COPPA, CIPA, NIST
  • Oversees highly qualified department staff, contracted services and vendors.
  • Facilitates collaborative planning of department and special projects.
  • Coordinates district technology resource audits, security audits, student data privacy audits, SIS audits and security, and data disaster recovery.
  • Determines appropriate specifications and purchasing related to district technology and ensures interoperability.
  • Oversees the provision of district-wide help desk services.
  • Accommodates learning styles of end-users with a wide range of Interest/skill levels in diverse instructional settings.
  • Helps teachers incorporate technology resources that enhance student learning in all areas of the curriculum.
  • Develops initiatives to expand media literacy opportunities and digital citizenship.
  • Leads professional development that helps staff identify and use technology resources that complement teaching styles, enhance proficiency and build confidence.
  • Coordinates back-to-school and registration form processes.

Beginning in January 2025, RRCSD will transition Tier 2 services (networking, phone configuration, wireless, etc.) to Laketec. Laketec is an Information Technology company Headquartered in North Olmsted. They are a team of 35 caring and capable individuals who hold customer satisfaction as our number one priority. Our Laketec Manager is Michael Nunn.

CETL

Rocky River has been a CETL district since 2021. CETL stands for "Certified Education Technology Leader," which is a professional certification for individuals in the K-12 education sector who demonstrate expertise in managing and leading technology initiatives within their schools or districts; it is administered by the Consortium for School Networking (CoSN) and signifies a high level of competency in educational technology leadership.  Dr. Drost has held this certification since 2021, and was part of then inaugural group in Ohio to receive this certification.

TLE

The Rocky River City School District was awarded the Trusted Learning Environment (TLE) Seal in 2022 by The Consortium for School Networking (CoSN), becoming just the second district in Ohio to earn the TLE Seal, and one of 27 in the country. The honor is a national distinction awarded to school districts that demonstrate a tangible commitment to protecting student data through modern, rigorous policies and practices. The TLE was successfully renewed in 2024.
