Dear Parents & Guardians:
Earlier today, Governor DeWine announced details of the State’s return to school plan. The plan provides guidance on best practices that all Ohio school districts are expected to follow as they consider educational and programming options for the fall. During his address, the Governor provided several key points that we must consider when making decisions that will impact our students, staff, families, and community as we work to safely reopen schools.
The Governor’s guidance included:- Vigilantly Assess for Symptoms
- Wash and Sanitize Hands to Prevent Spread
- Thoroughly Clean and Sanitize the School Environment to Limit Spread on Shared Surfaces
- Practice Social Distancing
- Implement Face Covering Policies

In anticipation of this afternoon’s announcement, the Rr 20/20 Vision committee and building sub-committees have been working diligently over the last few weeks on preliminary plans to reopen the Rocky River City School District (RRCSD). These plans have been driven by the data provided in the parent/guardian survey that was sent to families in May and considerations for planning and implementing safety measures in all buildings. With more than 275 volunteers serving on these committees, the groups will begin working to finalize plans for the RRCSD and a reopening plan will be shared as soon as possible, likely in late July, following approval from the Cuyahoga County Board of Health (CCBH).
Thank you for your patience, understanding and flexibility as we continue to work through this challenging process. Please continue to stay safe and healthy and enjoy the holiday weekend.
Thank you for your continued support of the Rocky River City School District.
Sincerely,
Dr. Michael G. Shoaf
Superintendent
