O.W.L.S. Math Workshop was designed to help students develop a variety of math skills through a hands-on, experience based approach. Each day in math, students will be taught the core lesson during whole group instruction. After they have exposure to the main concept, the concepts, skill and strategies are reinforced and extended upon in a small group, teacher guided lesson. While students are receiving small group instruction, the rest of the class is rotating through 3 centers that focus on math fact recall (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division), and common core mathematical concepts such as number sense, measurement and data, geometry, and operations. The constant exposure to these mathematical concepts and small group instruction opportunities cater to the students individual needs as mathematicians!
