RRHS Pirate Statue Dedication
Rocky River High School students will have a new presence in their halls—a seven-and-a-half feet tall granite pirate. He’s a larger-than-life representative of pirate pride and a gift from graduate Jim Milano in honor of his late sister, Maria, who was a cheerleader while at Rocky River High School. The pirate sculpture will be dedicated at the football game on Friday evening and then moved to its permanent location, inside the student lobby at the high school (also the gym lobby).

RRMS Football Implements NFL "Heads Up Tackling" Program
If you think concussions are a hot topic in the NFL, talk to the football coaching staff at Rocky River Middle School. Coaches Jamey Pfahl (8th Grade Head Football Coach) and Frank O’Grady (7th Grade), along with their lineup of assistants, are focusing a significant part of their team development on training players to protect their heads. That training, based on an NFL initiative called “Heads Up Tackling,” is one half of the two-pronged approach the coaches are taking. The other half is in the form of top-of-the-line equipment, provided to the team by a group of RRHS graduates and former Pirate Football players known as The Marooners.
