Preschool Peer Model Screening
Rocky River Preschool Peer Model Screening Date for the 2015-2016 school year is scheduled from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Friday, December 12, 2014 at Goldwood Primary School.  Peer models selected to participate within the special education preschool program should be at least 3 years old by the start of the 2015-2016 school year and also a resident of Rocky River.  Peer models must be developing typically in all early childhood domains.  The domains include:  physical motor development, social development, language and communication, vision and hearing, pre-academic, and cognitive skills development.  Children learn best from each other and peer models help facilitate appropriate actions and behaviors for students with disabilities.  Peer relationships are important for the social and cognitive development of all children.  If you are interested in your son or daughter participating in the preschool peer screening on December 12th, please call Mr. Brian Smith (Preschool Teacher) at 440-356-6720 or email to smith.brian@rrcs.org.  Thank you for your interest and we look forward to meeting you!
Coffee Talk
Come join us at Goldwood on October 16th, 10:00 - 10:45 AM for our first Coffee Talk of the year!  October's topic will be effective communication between home and school.  See attached flyer.
What's New In Ohio Education
The Ohio Department of Education has implemented a program that mandates all districts/schools administer a reading diagnostic assessment to all students in kindergarten through grade three by September 30th of each school year to meet the requirements of the Third Grade Reading Guarantee.  The KRA (Kindergarten Readiness Assessment) and the Reading Diagnostic for grades 1 and 2 will be given to all Goldwood students prior to September 30th.  This data will be used to identify students "Not on track" for meeting the Third Grade Reading Guarantee (TGRG). Please click on the link for information regarding ODE diagnostic assessments for grades K-2.
Information for Parents Concerning Data Release
A U.S. District Court has ordered that 2013-2014 school year records from the Ohio Department of Education’s Educational Management Information System be turned over to Disability Rights Ohio as part of an ongoing lawsuit.

Under the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act, families of students whose data will be released must be notified and given the opportunity to object. The court is instructing all local education agencies to post notice about this opportunity to object on their district websites and in a central location, accessible to the public, in each building that is open to the public.
