New Immunizations Required for 7th and 12th Graders Fall 2016

The Ohio Department of Health has revised the immunizations requirements for the 2016-2017 school year. All students entering the 7th grade are required to have one dose of Meningococcal vaccine and one dose of Tdap (Tetanus, Diphtheria and Pertussis) prior to the start of school.  In addition, all students entering the 12th grade are required to have two doses of Meningococcal vaccine prior to the start of school. However, if the student received their first dose after their 16th birthday then just one dose of Meningococcal is required.  You may obtain the Meningococcal and the Tdap vaccines from your private physician or other community providers. Please consider the new guidelines when scheduling your child’s next medical appointment.  These vaccines are also available from the Cuyahoga County Board of Health. Please call 216-201-2041 for an immunization appointment or for additional information.

RRHS Students Selected as Members of Ohio All-State Band & Choir
Congratulations are extended to four students who represented Rocky River High School  at the state this past weekend.  Juniors Grace Janosik, Brandon Schumacker, and Rachael Thorn were all members of the Ohio All-State Choir and junior Sophia Manoloff was a member of the Ohio All-State Band.  These students were selected through a rigorous audition process that involved hundreds of eligible musicians from across the state.  All four students performed in Cincinnati as part of the Ohio Music Education Association State Professional Conference.
Pirate Pride Award
The Pirate Pride award recognizes students who get "caught doing something good." A student may be nominated who has demonstrated a behavior that goes above and beyond the ordinary in terms of kindness, civility, or citizenship.

The Pirate Pride winner for the week of February 8th is freshman Daijah Hill! Mrs. Ericka Ghazoul, Daijah's English teacher, nominated her saying, "Daijah has taken a new student to our class under her wing to welcome and assist him. She always greets him with a smile.  The student has blossomed and a huge part of it is how sweet and welcoming Daijah has been." Congratulations To Daijah!
