Tips for Learning Math
In Rocky River math classes grades K-12, our teachers seek to develop a variety of math expertise in our students surrounding 8 Standards for Mathematical Practice.
RRMS Teachers Recognized at OMLA Conference
RRMS was recognized by the Ohio Middle Level Association for the teaming practices component award at their annual conference in Columbus on November 2nd.
Egg Drop
Mr. Chulik's students constructed an apparatus to shield an ordinary, everyday egg from a 25 foot fall from the school's roof.  The object of the exercise was, of course, to shield a chicken egg from breaking while being dropped.  The smallest device (with the egg not breaking) won in each class.  Students used such things as rubber bands, plastic straws, paper towels, tape, styrofoam, popsicle sticks, shaving cream etc. to come up with a protective device.  Besides the engineering process and scientific method that went into this, students also expanded their knowledge on potential energy, kinetic energy, physical properties, chemical properties, density, independent variables, dependent variables, motion, gravity, and metric measurement.

Little Free Library

The Little Free Library movement has officially come to Rocky River Middle School! Little Free Libraries are quickly becoming a global phenomenon as there are currently over 36,000 of these small, front-yard book exchanges in over 70 countries around the world. Now, a Little Free Library is officially open to the public at RRMS. The students and staff at RRMS are encouraged to join the movement by taking, sharing books, and exchanging reading materials through our Little Free Library. This will help contribute to a community of readers in Rocky River. We welcome your continued support in fostering the literacy of both children and adults around the world, and in our very own community.

Our Little Free Library (Charter #46691) is the first one of its kind in Rocky River. This very special addition to our community was made possible by the RRMS PTA and with the help of the RRMS Builder’s Club. The generosity of both the staff and students at Rocky River Middle School has also made this Little Free Library a success.
