"Egg Drop" Competition
Mr. Chulik's 6th grade Science class recently held the "Egg Drop" competition.  The object of this engineering assignment was to shield a chicken egg from a 25 foot fall in the smallest device possible.
September 11, Thirteen Years Later
Members of the class of 2021, now sixth-graders, weren't even born yet on September 11, 2001. The events of that day, for them, are a history lesson, much like the attack on Pearl Harbor is for their parents.  But on September 9, the sixth-graders at Rocky River Middle School had a rare and valuable opportunity to hear a first-person account from a survivor of the Twin Towers destruction.
College and Career Readiness
Eighth grade students in CCR have been working hard to discover the roles of the market through our "Current Financial Events" project.  Each week a few students present to the class an article that highlights what is happening in the financial world.  Students have educated their peers on how trends are occurring and their impact on other economic areas.  They have discovered the importance of both producers and consumers and buyers and sellers.  Additionally, as the students present, they are strengthening their abilities to carry themselves well and their peers are practicing their manners and courtesies as they respect the presenter.
Kick-It Fundraiser

It's that time again for the Kick-It fundraiser. Last year our students raised over $9,000.00 and this year our goal is $10,000.00. This year we are allowing students to earn a free kick-it t-shirt by getting $100.00 in online donations or they may purchase a t-shirt for $25.00. Please remember our goal of this event is for the students to give back and help others in need. Last year we had students donate their baby sitting money, do chores, send out emails to family for online donations, do yard work in the neighborhood and also ask business owners to match donations/sponsor the organization.  To donate online go to:

RRMS Football Implements NFL "Heads Up Tackling" Program
If you think concussions are a hot topic in the NFL, talk to the football coaching staff at Rocky River Middle School. Coaches Jamey Pfahl (8th Grade Head Football Coach) and Frank O’Grady (7th Grade), along with their lineup of assistants, are focusing a significant part of their team development on training players to protect their heads. That training, based on an NFL initiative called “Heads Up Tackling,” is one half of the two-pronged approach the coaches are taking. The other half is in the form of top-of-the-line equipment, provided to the team by a group of RRHS graduates and former Pirate Football players known as The Marooners.
Information for Parents Concerning Data Release
A U.S. District Court has ordered that 2013-2014 school year records from the Ohio Department of Education’s Educational Management Information System be turned over to Disability Rights Ohio as part of an ongoing lawsuit.

Under the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act, families of students whose data will be released must be notified and given the opportunity to object. The court is instructing all local education agencies to post notice about this opportunity to object on their district websites and in a central location, accessible to the public, in each building that is open to the public.
