Since his graduation from Rocky River in 1971 and from Salisbury University in 1975, Bill Wolcott has devoted much of his life to serving his community, his church and humanity in general.

During his 12 years living in Salisbury, MD, Bill was an active member of the Salisbury Jaycees, and organization dedicated to community service.  For much of that time, Bill was instrumental in planning and staging the Lower Shore Special Olympics.  Bill was also involved in conducting the Children's Christmas Shopping Tour, an annual even that gives underprivileged children a chance to shop and select Christmas presents for their family or friends.

After moving to the Tidewater area of VA in 1988, Bill joined the Hampton Roads Jaycess and continued his involvement with community service activities.  Among other work, he helped to provide Thanksgiving Baskets for the Needy and worked to allow low-income people to become homeowners through Habitat for Humanity.  Bill also donated his time to the English As A Second Language program through the Peninsula Reads organization.  There, he taught English to students from Columbia and Peru, lodged at Fort Eustis as part of the International Transportation Program.

In the summers of 2001 through 2003, Bill took part in the Emory Service Project, a program coordinated through Emory & Henry College and the United Methodist Church to assist needy families with home repairs.  In 2004, Bill was one of 24 people from his church to participate in a Volunteer in  Missions International trip to Honduras.  In 2006 and 2007, he traveled to the Gulf Coast of Mississippi to help families who had suffered losses from Hurricane Katrina.  He also assisted with PORT (People Offering Resources Together), a program to help house Southeast VA's homeless population during the winter.
