Social Skills

Rocky River Schools

Social skills are so very important, and students' years at Kensington are a great time to learn and reinforce them. There are several benefits to having strong social skills - they have been shown to increase student productivity, help students make friends, increase confidence, and much more.

In groups here, we focus on how to read and understand body language (what this looks like in the classroom), how to display appropriate body language yourself, how to deal with frustration appropriately, conflict resolution (both in and out of school), as well as address any issues that the students bring to group. A main component of our group is "Bucket Filling" - please see the link on the right for a detailed explanation of this widely used strategy.

For more information on Bucket Filling, the importance of teaching social skills, and ideas on how parents can reinforce these at home, check out the websites on the right - they are great resources!
