Criteria for Induction:
"For his outstanding contributions to higher education, as demonstrated by his innovative leadership as president of Baldwin-Wallace College, the Hall of Fame recognizes Dr. Mark Collier." Dr. Collier followed Rocky River by graduation with honors from DePauw University and then receiving his Masters from Divinity from Yale. He then earned his doctorate in High Education from Kent State University. He is also a Fellow in Academic Administration of the American Council on Education and a graduate of Educational Management at Harvard University. Arriving at Baldwin-Wallace as a chaplain in 1974, he held the rank of professor in the Department of Religion. Before that, he served as pastor of the North Olmsted United Methodist Church. At Baldwin-Wallace, Dr. Collier enjoyed an exceptional progression of responsibility. Prior to his presidency, he was responsible for leadership of the academic program and held offices relating to enrollment, developmental services, continuing education and multi-cultural affairs. Dr. Collier has served on the Board of United Way and chaired its Public Sector Campaign. He also served on the Board of the Greater Cleveland Roundtable, Southwest General Health Center, Ohio Foundation of Independent Colleges and the National Association of Schools and Colleges of the United Methodist Church. Under Dr. Collier's presidency at Baldwin-Wallace, four capital improvement projects took place. As he said, "Baldwin-Wallace exists to positively change and transform the lives of our students. Everything we do should be directed toward developing graduates who are committed to learning for the rest of their lives and who understand and accept their responsibility as contributing, compassionate citizens of an ever increasingly global society." |
