Criteria for Induction:
After graduating from Rocky River High School in 1950, Donald received his undergraduate degree from John Carroll University and earned his MD from The Ohio State University. He is board certified in pediatrics and pathology. Donald has served residencies in pediatrics and pathology at Ohio State, St. Luke's Hospital in Cleveland, and the Children's Hospital in Columbus. Prior to his retirement in 1998, he served as Dean of the University of Louisville School of Medicine for eighteen years and also as Vice President of Hospital Affairs. He also served as a professor of pediatrics and as an associate professor of pathology. Donald was principal investigator on numerous national children's cancer studies and has served on several health-related boards. Recently, he interrupted his retirement at the request of Louisville Metro Mayor, Jerry Abramson, to accept an appointment as the acting director of the Louisville-Jefferson County Metro Health Department. He is widely recognized throughout the community for his contributions to the fields of medicine and health sciences.
