Tahsler played football for RRHS, racking up rushing yardage that placed him seventh overall, including his 1,103 yards in just nine games. Among other ranks earned while at RRHS, Tahsler earned all-conference honors SWC and a few all-state honors.
He also played baseball, where he was a pitcher and also had a team-leading batting average of .371. Tahsler notably pitched a no-hitter in a conference game his senior year.
