COPLEY, Ohio (Oct. 17, 2024) -- Rocky River's season came to an end with a hard-fought 3-0 loss in a Northeast 3 District Tournament contest Thursday. The Pirates, the No. 13 seed in DIII Region 9, were defeated 25-19, 25-21, 25-16 by a strong No. 9 Indians squad running its home record to 8-1.
Copley hit .375 and served up 13 aces in the match. [Full match stats unavailable at the time of publication.]
The loss extends a streak for the Pirates, who finished the season with an 11-8 mark. River was felled in each of its last five matches.
"We've struggled down the stretch when it comes to holding momentum," said coach Wendy Raffin.
But Rocky River's first-year coach saw a lot of fight in the 2024 Pirates: "When we had successes, everyone was a part. Everyone contributed and that was so great to see. I'm tremendously proud of this group."
