AVON, Ohio (Oct. 5, 2024) -- Rocky River had a nine-game unbeaten streak come to an end with a 2-1 loss at Avon Saturday.
The Pirates got a Noah Nagy goal in the 38th minute and took a 1-0 lead into halftime, but the host Eagles (10-1-3) fought back with two unanswered markers in the second half. Avon tied the match 1-1 in the 47th minute and then leapfrogged River with the eventual game-winner in the 76th. The Eagles outshot the Pirates 4-2 over their final 40 minutes in extending an unbeaten streak of their own (Avon is 5-0-1 since Sept. 18).
The loss for Rocky River (10-3-2) marked its first since Sept. 3.
The Pirates will close out their regular season with a Wednesday match at Normandy.
