ROCKY RIVER, Ohio (Oct. 5, 2024) -- Rocky River went 1-2 in a Saturday home quad-match at Rocky River Gymnasium. The Pirates lost to Chardon (2-0) and Elyria Catholic (2-1) while earning a victory against North Ridgeville.

River opened with its win over North Ridgeville, which the Raiders earned in 25-18, 25-18 fashion. The Maroon & White then fell to Chardon 25-20, 25-15. They finished the day losing to the Panthers 25-18, 24-26, 25-22.

The Pirates, who hit .128 for the day, were led by Ella Brokaw (29 kills, .333 average, six total blocks), Lilly Cupp (seven aces, 25 digs), Maeve Sheridan (18K), Kylie Spies (five aces, 45 assists), and Emma Yezbak (10K, .318 average).

Spies registered career assist No. 1,000 during the day. The junior captain has registered a would-be career-best 5.6 assists per set this fall. Over her career, she has filed 1,029 assist, 436 digs, and 126 aces.

Rocky River (11-5) will continue its season with a Tuesday road match at Bay.
