ROCKY RIVER, Ohio (Aug. 28, 2024) -- Rocky River was dealt a loss in its Cleveland West Conference opener Wednesday, as the Pirates fell to the Westlake Demons 2-1 at Rocky River Stadium.

Sean Evilsizer netted both Westlake goals. Stephen Cain had the lone answer for the Pirates (3-1, 0-1 CWC) which had tallied 15 goals over their previous three games.

With the win, Westlake (2-0, 1-0) has won four of the last five series meetings. The loss for River marked just the second the Pirates have had in their last 13 regular-season games (11-2).

Rocky River is slated to return to action with a non-conference match at Cloverleaf Tuesday.
