AVON LAKE, Ohio (Aug. 26, 2024) -- Rocky River shut out Avon Lake 4-0 in Monday night non-conference action. River scored three goals in the first half and one in the second; all four were unanswered in what marked the Pirates' first shutout of the 2024 season.

Senior Sophia Sindelar figured in all four Rocky River goals, with three goals and assist. Mia Carney (assist), Grace Quaiser (assist), Addie Russell (assist), and Summer Seed (goal) also registered points on what was a hot, humid evening at Avon Lake Memorial Stadium. A stout Pirate defense held the Shoregals to just two shots on goal; goalkeeper Caitlin Rose turned aside both.  

The victory marked River's 28th in a row in regular-season play.

The Pirates (2-0) are scheduled to open Cleveland West Conference play Wednesday at Westlake.
