FAIRVIEW PARK, Ohio (Sept. 4, 2024) -- On Wednesday, Double-R Girls Golf hosted the 2024 Rocky River Invitational at Big Met Golf Course. The Pirates fired a 356, their second-best tournament score of the season, in earning a runner-up finish in the 12-team event.
Senior Mia Ginnetti carded a 3-over 38-38--76 on the par-73 riverside layout. Ginnetti, who has now authored three sub-80 rounds this season, finished as tournament runner-up. She birdied the 240-yard, par-4 seventh and 284-yard, par-4 17th. The senior standout opened on Big Met's back nine and played Nos. 16-through-7 in 1-under-par.
Rocky River's other scoring players were Julia Schmid (86), Rylie Quaiser (96), and Vivienne Bennett/Addie Crane (each logged a 98). River's 356 tally was topped only by Brunswick, which posted a fine 338 on the idyllic weather day in the valley. Brunswick's Ellie Gonzalez-Ribble fired a medalist score of 75.
The Maroon & White have now competed in six tournaments this season. They have earned top-3 finishes in half of those.

ON DECK: River's next action is slated for Monday when the Pirates head to Springvale Golf Course in North Olmsted for a split tri-match with Lake Erie Girls Golf Association foe North Olmsted and non-conference opponent Wellington.
SWING LOW: The Pirates' four-man score of 356 marked its best since Aug. 20 (349 at Ridgewood Golf Course) and one of the top-10 scores in program history. River fired the same score in the same event last season; that 356 was a then-program record. The team's current mark is 338, set in last year's LEGGA Championship Tournament (Sept. 14 at Springvale). ... Julia Schmid's 86 Wednesday marked her best 18-hole score this season. Vivienne Bennett's 98 marked her second-best round of the fall. ... Crane and Schmid have competed in each of River's 13 events this season.
