River routs Patriots 8-0

RR Girls Soccer

ROCKY RIVER, Ohio (Sept. 4, 2024) -- Rocky River coasted to a Cleveland West Conference conquest of Valley Forge in a Wednesday contest on Detroit Road. The Pirates scored three goals over the first four minutes of play, went on to net half-a-dozen goals in the opening half, and shut out the Patriots 8-0.

The Checkered Buccaneers got four goals from Sophia Sindelar. That performance included all three netfinders in River's early lightning strike which saw the scores produced in a spread of 68 seconds. Sindelar also filed an assist on the night; she has 22 points (nine goals, four assists) through Rocky River's first four matches.

The balance of River's eight goals came in one-apiece fashion from Morgan Burnett, Clara DeWitt, Grace Quaiser, and Addie Russell. Quaiser also logged a pair of assists.

For Rocky River (4-0, 2-0 CWC), Wednesday's output against overmatched Valley Forge (0-4, 0-1) marked the most goals the Pirates have scored in a single game this season.

Wednesday's match marked the front end of a busy four-day stretch for the Maroon & White. The Pirates will travel to Indianapolis for two games this weekend (Friday at Brebeuf Prep, Saturday at Cathedral Academy).
