ROCKY RIVER, Ohio (Feb. 18, 2025) -- Rocky River led most of the way but could not seal the deal in the final minute, as the Pirates fell to the Shaker Heights Red Raiders 74-71 in Tuesday non-conference action.

In a contest that marked the end of the regular season, River's loss spelled the end of a three-game win streak overall and a six-game win streak at home.

The top scoring performances for the Pirates (14-8) were logged by Jacob Radcliffe (22 points), Rowan Kennedy (15), and Danny Berg (12).

With the victory, Shaker Heights (7-14) has won four of its last five.

The Pirates will now be sailing into Buckeye State playoff waters. The Brethren of the North Coast are the No. 14 seed in the 53-team DIII Northeast District. Rocky River will compete in DIII Region 9 and will travel to Gilmour Academy to take on the No. 8 Gilmour Lancers in district tournament action on Saturday. Tip time is slated for 7 p.m.
