Time Commitment &
Meetings:
Student Council is a group that meets
frequently throughout the year to continually represent the student body and
promote initiatives within the school community. Meetings are held at least
once a month before school. Meetings are held in the Library Media Center.
Meeting dates and times are
communicated through GroupMe messaging as well as a Google Classroom portal.
Elections &
Eligibility:
Eight student council representatives
are elected by their peers for the upcoming school year each spring. Students
interested in running for these positions must submit an application and
fulfill all requirements in addition to possessing a GPA of 2.0 or higher.
Major Responsibilities:
- Represent the student body’s ideas to the school administration and to promote communication and cooperation within the school.
- Promote school
improvement, school programs, and school spirit through a democratic
organization.
- Exchange ideas
and form collaborative relationships with their peers.
- Perform school
and community services and develop an understanding between the student body
and the community.
Specific Responsibilities
Include:
- Attend scheduled meetings
- Assist at the annual RRHS Open House
- Plan and participate in Spirit
Week activities
- Assist in the planning and
execution of the Homecoming Pep Rally
- Plan and execute RRHS Homecoming
Parade, Dance, and Festivities
- Report before and after Homecoming Dance to decorate and clean-up
- Parents
of Senior Student Council Members must assist at the Homecoming Dance and
After-Prom
- Plan and execute Staff
Appreciation Week
- Plan other school-related events
as needed
