RRHS Chess Club

The Rocky River High School Chess Club is a fun, inviting environment where students can learn anywhere from chess basics to becoming nationally ranked chess competitors. Meetings are once a week, held on different days to minimize conflicts, and the day the meeting is held will be posted outside room 2023, the same locations the meeting is held. Players may choose to simply enjoy the game with their friends, while others may also join the RRHS Chess team traveling squad. The traveling team will compete in local, state, and even national tournaments representing themselves and RRHS. Previous team results are listed below.
Update coming soon.
The Chess Club plays in the Greater Cleveland Scholastic Chess League. The league consists of 4 tournaments, and is a great place for beginners to try tournament play. They are sanctioned by the USCF, so players receive an official USCF rating and can track their skill level. The tournaments are divided by ratings, thus you only play those near your skill level. The schedule for this year is...
November 3rd - Solon MS
December 8th - Beachwood HS
January 19th - Solon MS
March 2nd - Rocky River HS!!!

The team also will compete in different state and national competions as well.
