RR Boys Basketball

ROCKY RIVER, Ohio (Feb. 16, 2024) -- The Pirates opened a two-day, back-to-back with a non-conference rout of Lincoln West Friday at Rocky River Gymnasium. The Buccaneers scored 12 of the game's first 14 points and never looked back. River would go on to claim a 49-17 edge by halftime and win going away in a bench-dominated, running-clock second half. The final tally had Rocky River outscoring the Wolverines 71-36.

The Maroon & White hit nine triples in the contest and filed an effective field-goal percentage of 62.5%. Only at the foul line did the Double-R falter (42.9%, 6-of-14) in a game that saw the home five dominate in rebounds (31-21), turnovers (RR 16, LW 26), and shooting (54% to 35%). River registered 29 points off turnovers, and scored more-than-half of those points (18) in transition.

Ten Pirates found the scoring column in what marked the first of four straight games at the Corner of Wagar & Detroit. Senior forward Giovanni Lizzini led the way with a 10-point, eight-rebound performance.

Also chiming in with solid evenings were Simon Baum (7P, 5R), Danny Berg (9P, three assists, three steals), Julian Patti (8P), Ryan Ricketti (9P), and Joe Schill (9P).

Rudolph Buhwenda logged a game-high 19 points to lead the Wolverines (9-11).

Rocky River (10-9) will host John F. Kennedy Saturday at 7 p.m.
