ROCKY RIVER, Ohio – Jane Rathbun, a junior at Rocky River High School (RRHS), earned the highest possible ACT composite score of 36. Rathbun was recognized with a Special Resolution at the May 16 Board of Education meeting for her accomplishment.
Less than one-half of 1-percent of students who take the ACT earn a perfect score. In 2023, approximately 1.39 million high school students took the ACT test with just under 2,600 of them achieving a perfect score.
The ACT is a curriculum-based achievement exam that measures what students have learned in school. Tests in English, mathematics, reading and science are each scored on a scale of 1–36. A student's composite score is the average of the four test scores. The score for ACT’s optional writing test is reported separately and is not included within the ACT composite score.
