Pirates off target in setback at Chagrin Falls

RR Boys Lacrosse

CHAGRIN FALLS, Ohio (May 6, 2023) -- The Pirates were held to a season-low two goals in dropping their seventh consecutive game, as Rocky River suffered a 15-2 loss at Chagrin Falls Saturday.

River was held to two second-period markers (Will Bennett, Andrew Lang) in its lowest single-game output since May 1, 2022 (14-2 loss at Columbus Academy). The home side countered with five in the first, four in the second, four in the third, and two in the fourth. Attackman Sean Mckee registered five goals and three assists in the onslaught. Max Crandall and Andrew Zelch each added four goals and one assist.

Since April 21, the Tigers (9-4) have won seven straight games. Chagrin Falls has now defeated Rocky River 12 straight times. Saturday's contest marked the largest margin of victory in series history. The Tigers now lead that series 14-1.

In Saturday's game, Chagrin Falls outshot River 46-11; it put 24 shots on frame to the Pirates' four.  River's four shots on goal mark the program's fewest in a single game in its recorded game-by-game history (since 2016). The Tigers were a plus-3 in turnover margin (13, 16) and won 18-of-21 faceoffs.

Mac Scott registered two ground balls and two caused turnovers for the Maroon & White.

Rocky River (7-8) will close out its regular-season slate at Cuyahoga Valley Friday.
