Math Matters:
Mathematicians are always problem solving and learning new things. This year students will become mathematicians. We will learn about multiplication, division, two-step word problems, telling elapsed time, measuring to the nearest 1/2 and 1/4 inch, rounding, fractions, area, perimeter, and so much more! The new Common Core State Standards require students to delve deeply into mathematical concepts going beyond solving them to really understanding the processes. Students will participate in math stations where they will explore, examine, and solve problems. They will work in large groups, small groups, with partners, and independently to deepen their understanding. Students will be asked to complete math homework pages each night.
