National Preparedness Month



September is National Preparedness Month, and the Cuyahoga County Office of Emergency Management (CCOEM) is hosting two Emergency and Disaster Preparedness Fairs.

The Preparedness Fairs will take place:

Saturday September 20th from 11 AM to 1 PM at the Warrensville YMCA, located at 4435 NorthField Road.

Saturday October 11th from 10 AM to 1 PM at the Watershed Stewardship Center at WestCreek in Parma located at 2277 West Ridgewood Drive.

Open to all! Free to attend! Prizes given away!

Discussions of public safety equipment, demonstrations of family preparedness methods, and workshops of various readiness topics will be featured. Sessions will include:

 

  • Building a disaster kit
  • Protecting pets
  • Water safety
  • Food safety
  • Extinguishing a fire
  • Sheltering in place
  • Creating a business continuity of operations plan
  • Senior Preparedness
  • K9 Demonstrations
  • Police & Fire Demos
  • Storm Spotting Class
  • Wilderness survival

 

The fair focuses on families, children, pets, older Americans, business owners, and individuals with functional needs. By teaching preparedness, we can empower the community, and put the tools of preparedness in your hands. Remember, disasters affect everyone, and so it takes everyone- youth, parents, seniors, enterprises, and community members-to help prepare. So attend the Cuyahoga Emergency and Disaster Preparedness Fairs and learn how to build a disaster kit, protect your pets, extinguish a fire, shelter in place, and build survival skills!
