RRCSD Students and Teachers Partner with Rocky River Historical Society

March 14, 2024

ROCKY RIVER, Ohio – Students and teachers from the Rocky River City School District have recently partnered with the Rocky River Historical Society for projects.

Rocky River High School art students contributed drawings to the first edition of the Rocky River Historical Society coloring book which showcases various highlights and iconic locations of Rocky River history. Drawings in the 16-page coloring book include the Railroad Depot, Old River Shopping District, Rocky River Bridge, the Clock Tower, Rocky River Public Library, Bearden’s and Mitchell’s.

The Historical Society donated 200 copies of the coloring book to Kensington Intermediate School for all third grade students to have a copy during their local history unit. Some of the completed pictures will be shared with the Historical Society to decorate the wall at the Historical Society entrance at Beach School.

In the fall of 2023, students in Sarah Perz’s art class at the high school designed a template for Century Homes and Tangletown Homes in Rocky River. The Historical Society uses this graphic to issue certificates to homeowners who purchase plaques for their historic Century homes or vintage Tangletown homes.
