BAY VILLAGE, Ohio (April 26, 2024) -- Rocky River won its third consecutive game and closed out a season sweep of its rival, as the Pirates topped the Bay Rockets 13-8 Friday.
The Maroon & White withstood a seven-run Bay third, rallied from a 7-5 deficit, and pulled away from the home nine with eight runs over the last two innings of play in the Great Lakes Conference West Division clash. Rocky River (9-7, 3-2 GLC West) made the most of 12 singles and five bases on balls. The Pirates, who have now logged a double-digit run total in six straight games, went a robust 8-of-19 (.421) with runners in scoring position.
Juliana Benjamin (2-for-5, 2 RBI), Rylie Quaiser (2-for-3, 2 RBI, and Elizabeth Smalley (3-for-4, 1 RBI) all registered multiple hits for the Pirates which had earlier this season downed the Rockets 3-2 in Myrtle Beach, S.C.
Benjamin has now hit safely in six straight games and owns a .391 batting average (9-of-23) over that stretch.
The River Raiders are slated to play a road-but-nearby game Saturday night at 7:30 p.m. at Lutheran West.
