CHAGRIN FALLS, Ohio (May 2, 2024) -- Rocky River suffered an 18-5 loss at University School Thursday.

Prepper sharpshooters dented twine on 18 of 42 shots in a game played with frequent churn of possessions. The third-ranked team in the state (LaxNumbers DII) scored six goals in the opening quarter and seven more in the second, and it got the contest in running-clock mode in the second half.

Rocky River (10-5) was a plus-3 in a high-turnover game that included 17 total failed clears. University (10-1) outshot the Pirates 42-18.

Michael Bebie scored two goals and had three caused turnovers for River. Tyler Stanciu registered three ground balls and three caused turnovers.

The Preppers went 24-3 on faceoffs in handing the Pirates their third straight setback. The contest concluded a stretch of five straight road games for Rocky River, which is now 4-5 away from home. Two of River's final three regular-season games will be on Detroit Road. That stretch opens with a Tuesday home game against a Chagrin Falls squad ranked fourth in the state.
