FAIRVIEW PARK, Ohio (Sept. 6, 2023) -- Rocky River has retaken the Rockport Cup. After a 3-0 loss to Fairview in 2021 and a 1-1 draw last autumn, the Pirates wrested the trophy away from the Warriors with a decisive 4-0 victory Wednesday.

River scored three goals in the first half and one in the second. The shutout marked the Pirates' second in a row and their fourth of the season. Scoring for the Maroon & White were Eric Gorius, Chris Saade, Zach Kern, and Gabe Schroth.

The contest at Fairview marked the 2023 Great Lakes Conference West Division opener for Rocky River (5-1, 1-0 GLC West).

The Pirates are scheduled to continue their season Saturday with a non-conference affair at Padua (7 p.m.).
