Pirates deep-6 Keystone in road triumph

RR Boys Soccer

LaGRANGE, Ohio (Sept. 25, 2023) -- The Pirates scored a half-dozen goals Monday, their most in over a month, as they downed the Keystone Wildcats 6-1 in a non-conference match.

Rocky River (10-2) shut out its hosts 4-0 in the opening half and traded one goal for two in the second stanza. The six-goal total marked River's most in a single game since Aug. 23 when the Pirates routed Holy Name 7-0.

The Buccaneers scored their twine-finders in Noah's Ark-two-by-two fashion. Sophomore Eric Gorius, junior Noah Nagy, and senior Chris Saade reeled in two scores each. Nagy filed two assists as well and finished with six points on the evening.

With his goals Monday, Saade is now tied with fellow senior Zach Kern for the team lead in scoring; both players have registered eight goals this season.

The victory marked the fifth in a row for the Pirates. Rocky River cap off its busy stretch of six matches in 12 days on Wednesday when the Pirates host a Great Lakes Conference West Division match against Elyria Catholic.
