Pirates go low, gather twin wins at Sweetbriar

AVON, Ohio (Aug. 29, 2023) -- Rocky River earned a pair of Lake Erie Girls Golf Association victories in Tuesday's league tri-match at Sweetbriar Golf Club. The Pirates posted a team score of 169, undercutting the Westlake Demons (204) and Keystone Wildcats (213).

Senior Chloe Holton parred the the final four holes on the par-34, 2,216-yard outward nine at Sweetbriar on her way to a 2-over 36. Junior Mia Ginnetti carded a 42 to finish as River's No. 2.

The match at Sweetbriar marked Rocky River's first action in a week and the front end of play on back-to-back days. And the twin wins continued River's hot streak. The Pirates (7-0, 6-0 LEGGA) will host a Wednesday non-conference match (vs. Copley, Padua) at Little Met Golf Club in Cleveland, they will do so with an unblemished match record on the line.

River's third and fourth scores Tuesday were carded by Charlotte Roche (44) and Julia Schmid (47). The Pirates' team score marked their lowest of the season.
