Bucs bounce back, defeat Valley Forge 3-1

ROCKY RIVER, Ohio (Aug. 30, 2023) -- The Pirates earned a bounce-back victory Wednesday, as Rocky River defeated Valley Forge 3-1 in a Great Lakes Conference crossover battle at Rocky River Stadium.

The River goals were registered by Stephen Cain, Eric Gorius, and Zach Kern. Kern added two assists as par of a four-point evening; he now has 10 points this season (2G, 6A).

The Pirates (3-1) led 1-0 through 40 minutes. The back half of the contest saw River trade one goal for two. Rocky River goalkeeper Gio Lizzini was credited with one save in what marked the Buccaneers' sixth straight win over the Patriots.

Wednesday's triumph marked a rebound after the Pirates had lost to Lake on Saturday.

ON DECK: 
The Pirates' next match is scheduled for Tuesday when RRHS hosts Cloverleaf at Rocky River Stadium.

YOUNG BUCS: In junior varsity action, River tied Valley Forge 1-1 Wednesday. The Pirates' goal was scored by Sebe Maher on an assist from Eli Henry.
