FAIRVIEW PARK, Ohio (Sept. 20, 2023) -- Rocky River closed out its conference slate with its closest match, as the Pirates downed the Westlake Demons 194-198 Wednesday at Big Met Golf Course.

The four-stroke victory along the banks of the Rocky River ran the Buccaneers' Lake Erie Girls Golf Association mark to 12-0. River's closest match prior to Wednesday had been a 10-shot triumph over Bay (186-196) on Sept. 13.

In the match against the Demons, the 2023 LEGGA champs got a big lift from junior Mia Ginnetti, who carded a 6-over 43 in a round that saw her rebound from some early trouble. Ginnetti posted two double-bogeys over her first five holes in the match played on the 2,906-yard inward nine. She rallied to play her final four holes even-par and log the lowest score of the day for either team.

Elsewhere on the team sheet, the Pirates (17-1, 12-0 LEGGA) got a pair of 50s from Regan Marshall and Julia Schmid. Charlotte Roche carded a 51. Kaitlin Zink led Westlake with a 44.

The Maroon & White have now won seven straight matches since falling to Strongsville on Sept. 6. Over the last two seasons, Rocky River is 37-2.

The Pirates will hit another local track Thursday, as they take on Bay and St. Joseph's in a tri-match at Westwood Country Club.
