River splits at Westwood

RR Girls Golf

ROCKY RIVER, Ohio (Sept. 21, 2023) -- Rocky River lost for just the second time this season and the third time since the start of the 2022 season, as the Pirates split in a Thursday non-conference tri-match against Bay and St. Joseph.

River posted a four-man score of 173 over the 2,950 yards of rolling terrain on the par-3-dominated outward nine in the special match at Westwood Country Club. The Pirates defeated Bay (212) but lost to the Jaguars, who went 10 strokes lower (163). The result on an ideal-weather afternoon at WCC marked River's first setback since Sept. 6. The Double-R Raiders had won six straight matches since.

Mia Ginnetti paced the Pirates, carding a 2-over 37. She was joined on Rocky River's score sheet by Chloe Holton (41), Julia Schmid (43), and Charlotte Roche (52). Ginnetti opened her round with four straight pars; she finished with seven pars and two bogeys.

The Pirates (18-2) are scheduled to return to action Sept. 25.
