ROCKY RIVER, Ohio (Sept. 23, 2023) -- Rocky River earned a 3-1 non-conference victory over Brunswick (25-11, 25-19, 18-25, 25-23) Saturday.

The victory ran River's home mark this season to 5-1. The loss marked the Blue Devils' first in five road matches.

Rocky River overcame a fine defensive effort by Brunswick (11-4) and hit .232 for the match.

Maggie Pfahl registered eight service aces and 17 digs. Samantha Young added 10 kills, eight digs, and three total blocks.

The Pirates (10-4) are slated to return to action Tuesday with a Great Lakes Conference crossover match against Normandy. That match at NHS will mark the first of back-to-back road matches for Rocky River.
