Pirates take two at Big Met

RR Girls Golf

FAIRVIEW PARK, Ohio (Aug. 22, 2023) -- The Double-R doubled up on a pair of foes in the valley Tuesday, as Rocky River downed Keystone and Shaker Heights in a tri-match at Big Met Golf Course.

River got by Lake Erie Girls Golf Association rival Keystone with 19 strokes to spare. The Pirates withstood a 2-over-38 filed by Shaker Heights' Emily Lamb in edging the Red Raiders by 4. The latter win marked Rocky River's closest of the season thus far; the triumph in the valley kept the Double-R undefeated on the season.

With the Maroon & White getting component scores of 42 (Mia Ginnetti), 44 (Chloe Holton), 57 (Regan Marshall), and 58 (Charlotte Roche), the Pirates carded a 201. The Wildcats fired a 220; the Raiders logged a 205.

Rose Lane and Kayla Weisenberger led Keystone; each fired a 51 on the par-36, 2,734-yard outward nine at Big Met.

Tuesday's action marked the front end of three straight days of valley play for the Buccaneers. That stretch for the Pirates (5-0, 4-0 LEGGA) will continue Wednesday. River will take on LEGGA foes Fairview and and North Olmsted at Big Met.
