River rocks Redskins 10-0

RR Baseball

ROCKY RIVER, Ohio -- The Pirates opened their season with a 10-0 victory over Cuyahoga Heights on a chilled home turf Thursday afternoon.

Senior Ethan White (four innings pitched) and junior Hudson Wissman (1 IP) combined for the shutout in the five-frame, run-rule conquest at Rocky River Field. Sophomore Thomas Rossi homered in the first inning, and senior Braedon Spies clubbed a grand slam in the third. Rossi, Spies, and junior Gavin O'Brien all had multiple hits on what was a 10-hit, 13-steal afternoon for the Pirates (1-0). Spies went 4-for-4 at the plate.

White allowed just one base hit over his four innings. He fanned six Redskins while walking one.
