Bucs bash Bay to continue LEGGA dominance

RR Girls Golf

AVON, Ohio (Sept. 6, 2022) -- Rocky River stayed undefeated with a Lake Erie Girls Golf Association conquest over the rival Bay Rockets Tuesday. The Pirates earned head-to-head victories in each of six lineup slots, and the Double-R emerged with a 205-235 win on the four-man card.

Playing a rain-soaked track on the 2,489-yard, par-36 inward nine at Legacy Golf Club, the Pirates (11-0, 7-0 LEGGA) logged scores of 48 (Chloe Holton), 49 (Mia Ginnetti), 52 (Julia Schmid), and 56 (Nora Sheridan) in dismantling the Rockets. Ruthie Bisson led Bay with a 56.

Tuesday's match marked River's final LEGGA match of the season. Since 2020, the Pirates are 24-4 in league play. Rocky River will meet Bay and four other LEGGA squads in Thursday's LEGGA Championship Tournament at Springvale Golf Course in North Olmsted, Ohio.

The Pirates won the league's preview tournament on Aug. 8. The Maroon & White are looking to earn their sixth circuit crown in seven years: Rocky River won LEGGA titles each year from 2016-20; Westlake won last year's LEGGA title event.
