ROCKY RIVER, Ohio -- The Lakewood Rangers bested the Rocky River Pirates in the annual Riverwood Cup game. The contest goes in the book as a scoreless draw, but the Rangers took the Cup on penalty kicks.

River was held without a goal for a second straight match, but the Pirates (1-0-4) kept their unbeaten mark intact with the 0-0 contest.

Rocky River and Lakewood met 20 times before the 2015 creation of the Riverwood Cup. In an overall series that dates back to 1975, the Pirates are 18-6-4.

The Pirates are scheduled to play at Lake Catholic Saturday at 4 p.m.
