Pirates stay on course, sink foe in road conquest

RR Girls Golf

NEWBURGH HEIGHTS, Ohio (Aug. 29, 2022) -- Rocky River remained on its unbeaten roll, as the Pirates claimed a 174-192 road win over Cuyahoga Heights Monday.

The Pirates (8-0) carded two 43s and two 44s on the par-29, 1,460-yard Washington Park Golf Course. Mia Ginnetti and Chloe Holton led River by filing the 43s. Julia Schmid (44) and Nora Sheridan (44) rounded out the team card on what was a warm, breezy afternoon in Newburgh Heights.

Shai Moore led the host Red Wolves with a 46.

CANNON FIRE ...

HOLTON & GINNETTI:
It isn't just a name of what sounds like a buddy-buddy detective show in the 1980s. They're the names of River's top two scorers, and they've been trading the best score in matches virtually all season. Including Monday's match at Washington Park, Ginnetti -- a sophomore -- and Holton -- a junior -- have combined to finish with the team's best score in every match but one this season. Holton has been team medalist five times and Ginnetti four.

ON DECK:
Rocky River is scheduled to host Keystone in a Lake Erie Girls Golf Association home match (Little Met Golf Course) on Tuesday afternoon. The Pirates defeated the Wildcats in a road match (Grey Hawk Golf Club) -- by a score of 204-231 -- on Aug. 22.
