Pirates tame Tigers 2-0

RR Girls Soccer

ROCKY RIVER, Ohio -- Rocky River got two goals from Ava Patti and one save from Caitlin Rose, as the Pirates shut out Chagrin Falls 2-0 Monday.

The Pirates dominated in possession time but were held off the Rocky River Stadium scoreboard until the 37th minute when Patti found twine from 10 yards out after receiving a pass from Mackenzie Russell. Patti scored again -- netting her 10th goal of the season -- in the 60th minute. That marker was assisted by Russell and Mia Carney, and it put a lid on scoring for the match.

Over the 80-minute non-conference affair, River did not yield a corner kick, and the Tigers managed just one shot on goal. The shutout marked the Pirates' sixth of the 2022 season.

On offense, Rocky River had few misfires, but the Pirates finished with 13 shots on goal. Ava Patti has registered five goals and an assist over River's last five matches.

Rocky River (7-1-1) is scheduled to host Elyria Catholic on Wednesday (6 p.m., Rocky River Stadium). The contest will mark the Pirates' 2022 Great Lakes Conference West Division opener.
