River sinks Raiders to run record to 6-0

RR Girls Golf

GRAFTON, Ohio (Aug. 23) -- The unbeaten Pirates are still just that. Rocky River earned a 189-221 win over Columbia Tuesday. The victory marked the Pirates sixth in as many matches this season.

The Maroon & White clocked the Lake Erie Girls Golf Association conquest on the 2,555-yard inward nine at Pine Brook Golf Course. The win marked the team's second conference road win in as many days; River defeated Keystone on Monday.

The Pirates (6-0, 4-0 LEGGA) got a 10-over 44 from Mia Ginnetti and an 11-over 45 from Chloe Holton. Both birdied the 400-yard, par-5 13th. The duo has finished with two strokes of each other in five events this season. And in one way or another, they have finished as the Pirates' top two scorers in 7-of-7 events.

On Wednesday, Ginnetti and Holton were backed up on River's card by Julia Schmid (49) and Nora Sheridan (51).

The match at Pine Brook was between two LEGGA unbeatens: the Columbia Raiders went into the day 3-1 overall and 2-0 in circuit play.

BACK IN THE VALLEY: The Pirates will hold their third home match of the season Wednesday when they host Fairview at Little Met Golf Course.
