RR Cross Country

MEDINA, Ohio (Oct. 8, 2022) -- Rocky River carded a pair of top-10 finishes in the 31st Annual Milt Place Cross Country Festival on Saturday. [results]

The Pirate boys logged a five-man score of 244 to take eighth place in the 28-team derby. The River girls scored 142 points in placing third-of-24 in the event hosted by Medina High School.

On the boys side, Rocky River managed its fine finish despite resting a couple key regulars. The Pirates' leading scorers were senior Greg Ganor (26th place) and junior Ben Buehrle (33rd).

The River girls built their fine bronze finish on the strong performances of senior Brianna Chaves (5th) and sophomores Katie Stirm (17th), Grace Lavelle (28th), and Allie Dewey (29th). Only host Medina (93 points) and winner Avon (66) would undercut the Pirates in what were fine autumn conditions in Medina. Rocky River posted an average time of 20:06.74.

The Pirates are scheduled to compete in the Great Lakes Conference Championship Meet (at Buckeye High School) on Oct. 15.
