ROCKY RIVER, Ohio (Oct. 8, 2022) -- Rocky River hosted a Saturday non-conference tri-match against Berea Midpark and Vermilion. The Pirates prevailed in two matches, defeating Berea 2-0 (25-20,25-19) and Vermilion 2-1 (25-20,18-25,26-24).

Rocky River got a combined 27 kills and 16 digs from Samantha Young, who has now swatted her way to 5.9 kills per set over the team's last four matches. The Pirates (15-4) have won all four contests.

Key contributors to Saturday's twin killing at the Corner of Wagar & Detroit included Ella Brokaw (18 kills), Maggi Pfahl (32 digs), and Ella Duffy (30 assists, six aces).

"These were some tough opponents today," said coach Brittany Morris, whose River crew is now 9-0 at home. "Our serving and serve reception games were strong, and that helped us get out to nice leads most of the way."

Rocky River is scheduled to travel to Medina for a non-conference tilt Monday evening. The Pirates will then clank swords with Holy Name in the 2022 GLC Championship Match on Thursday (Holy Name High School).
