Strong Saturday effort paced by Chaves

RR Girls Cross Country

STRONGSVILLE, Ohio (Sept. 24, 2022) -- The Rocky River girls squad placed eighth in the Strongsville Cross Country Invitational run Saturday at Strongsville High School. [results]

Junior Brianna Chaves led the Pirate effort by registering her first career time under 19 minutes in a seventh-place finish. River placed eighth in a strong field of 21 teams. The Double-R scored 202 points (7-32-45-46-72) and logged an average time of 20:21.12.

Rocky River's other scorers were Katie Stirm (32nd place), Grace Lavelle (45th), Allie Dewey (46th), and Corrine Angney (72nd).

Westlake (57 points) edged Perrysburg (82) for the meet title. One-hundred-seventy-one runners competed in the race.

The Rocky River boys team was idle Saturday.
