RR Seniors

ROCKY RIVER, Ohio (Sept. 29, 2022) -- Rocky River earned a 3-0 (25-18, 25-20, 25-12) sweep in a Great Lakes Conference West Division match against Fairview Thursday.

The Pirates hit a season-high .382 while peppering the Warriors (8-9, 1-7 GLC West) with 14 aces in what marked a bounce-back from a loss to Bay on Tuesday. River hit over .400 in games 1 and 3; it hammered out a .476 mark with just two attack errors in set No. 3.

Samantha Young had 14 kills, four aces, and 10 digs to pace the Buccaneer effort. Ella Brokaw added seven kills and two blocks. Ella Duffy had five aces to run her team-leading season total to 37.

On what marked Senior Night for the Rocky River program, seniors Clare Duffy (two digs, solid in serve reception), Haddie Holton (two kills, two digs), and Madie Shoaf (eight kills, three digs, ace, block) also chimed in with impactful performances.

"It was so nice to see our seniors being celebrated," said coach Brittany Morris. "They mean so much to this program, and all the girls really rallied around them."

The Pirates (10-2, 5-2) -- veterans and young Bucs alike -- are slated to play three games at an Avon Lake High School-hosted invitational tournament on Saturday.
